With a nostalgic longing for that vibrant atmosphere, program maker Simone Zeefuik is set to delve into a classic: The Color Purple. The Color Purple (2nd remake) by Blitz the Ambassador
Samuel Bazawule, known professionally as Blitz Bazawule and Blitz the Ambassador, has showcased his creative brilliance in the music videos for tracks featured on Native Sun (2011) and Diasporadical Trilogia (2016). Following his beautiful debut film The Burial of Kojo (2018) and his impressive contributions to Beyoncé's Black Is King (2020), Blitz the Ambassador is set to grace our screens with new work at the end of 2023. This time, he presents the remake of The Color Purple, the second film adaptation of Alice Walker's iconic novel.
Blitz Bazawule's remake of The Color Purple is scheduled for release in Dutch cinemas in late January 2024.

In de geest daarvan en met een verlangen naar die sfeer, wil onze programmamaker Simone Zeefuik graag een klassieker bespreken: The Color Purple. Let's talk in een huiskamersfeer over de boeken van Alice Walker en de twee verfilmingen.

De remake van The Color Purple door Blitz the Ambassador
The Color Purple (2e remake) door Samuel Bazawule, professioneel bekend als Blitz Bazawule en Blitz the Ambassador, heeft zijn creatieve briljantie laten zien in de videoclips bij nummers op Native Sun (2011) en Diasporadical Trilogia (2016). Na zijn prachtige debuutfilm The Burial of Kojo (2018) en zijn indrukwekkende bijdragen aan Beyoncé's Black Is King (2020), staat Blitz the Ambassador klaar om ons scherm te verrijken met nieuw werk eind 2023. Deze keer presenteert hij de remake van The Color Purple, de tweede verfilming van het iconische boek van Alice Walker.
De remake van The Color Purple staat gepland voor release in Nederlandse bioscopen eind januari 2024.

BPTUnpacks is onze serie panelgesprekken waarin de verbeeldingen, vertellingen en vreugde van Zwarte schrijvers, film- en theatermakers centraal staan.
