Een visuele en muzikale voorstelling over verzet van de bekendste verhalenverteller van Nederland. De bekendste verhalenverteller van Nederland brengt ontroerende en actuele voorstelling.

Verzet! is het thematische vervolg op Het Verre Woord. Sahand onderzoekt in deze voorstelling vormen van verzet, binnen en buiten zijn eigen Iraanse verhaal. De verhalen worden afgewisseld met spoken word, audio- en visuele archiefmaterialen en spannende livemuziek van jazzdrummer en virtuoos Henning Luther.

Verzet! sluit de tour af in het Bijlmer Parktheater – mis je laatste kans niet om deze indrukwekkende voorstelling te beleven.

Over Sahand Sahebdivani

Sahand Sahebdivani is geboren in Teheran, Iran. In 1983 is hij met zijn familie tijdens de Iran-Irak oorlog gevlucht naar Nederland. Zijn eigen turbulente familiegeschiedenis vormt de basis van het grootste deel van zijn werk. Sahand is behalve een charismatisch verteller ook muzikant. Hij speelt oosterse snaren en percussie en zingt in onder andere het Turks, Farsi en Koerdisch. Sahand vertelt al meer dan 20 jaar.

Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) is een Iraans-Nederlandse verhalenverteller, muzikant, een van de oprichters van cultureel centrum de Mezrab, mede-artistiek leider van het Amsterdam Storytelling Festival en een van de bekendste vertellers van Nederland. Sahebdivani was Verteller van het Jaar 2014 en won de Amsterdam Fringe Gold Award in 2017.

Kenmerkend voor onze programmering en producties is het streven naar ontmoeting. In 2024/2025 werken we met Gershwin Bonevacia en Babs Gons. In Resistance!, Sahand Sahebdivani explores what it means to live with the stories of World War II, the Iranian Revolution, and ancient Persian myths of good and evil—while today's news seems to be catching up with those old war stories. Expect a powerful blend of storytelling, spoken word, archival footage, and electrifying live music by jazz drummer and virtuoso Henning Luther.

Resistance! was developed in collaboration with Productiehuis Mozaïek and serves as the thematic successor to Sahand’s previous performance, Het Verre Woord.

Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) was born in Tehran, Iran. In 1983, during the Iran-Iraq War, he fled to the Netherlands with his family. His turbulent family history forms the foundation of much of his work. In addition to being a passionate storyteller, Sahand is also a musician. He has been sharing stories for over 20 years.

About Sahand Sahebdivani

Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) is an Iranian-Dutch storyteller and musician. He is one of the founders of Mezrab, co-artistic director of the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival, and one of the Netherlands’ most renowned storytellers. In 2014, he was named Storyteller of the Year, and in 2017, he won the Amsterdam Fringe Gold Award.

Productiehuis Mozaïek is the producing branch of Podium Mozaïek, dedicated to bringing forward compelling, urgent, and underrepresented stories. In the coming years, we will focus on creators active in spoken word and storytelling, selecting personal narratives that allow audiences to see themselves and the world through the eyes of others. A hallmark of our programming and productions is the pursuit of connection. We collaborate with artists such as Gershwin Bonevacia, Gerson Main, Babs Gons, and Cheroney Pelupessy.
